GameBid Price Finder

Privacy policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

GameBid Price Finder is a free Chrome extension. It shows what a physical game usually sells for on GameBid (www.gamebid.co.uk), plus current GameBid listings. Prices are in pounds.

It is made by GameBid, a trading name of GameBid Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17497897). GameBid Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. ICO registration: ZC277868 (GameBid Ltd).

Registered office: 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA, United Kingdom

For correspondence only. This is not a returns address: returns go to the seller’s address (see Refunds, returns & cancellations).

Contact: privacy@gamebid.co.uk

This policy covers the extension. It follows the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Using the GameBid website or app is covered by the GameBid privacy policy.

What the extension sends

When you click the toolbar icon, the extension reads the game title on the page you are viewing. It can also use a title you type. It sends only that title and the platform (one you picked, or one read from the same page) to GameBid's public price service at www.gamebid.co.uk. It does not send the page address, the price on the page or any other page content. It does not read your browsing history, and it does not change the page.

GameBid replies with the game name, platform, prices, condition and sale dates. Those replies do not include usernames or locations.

Permissions the extension asks for

  • Access to the page you're on, only when you click the icon (activeTab and scripting): so it can read the game's title from that page. It reads nothing until you click, and nothing from other tabs.
  • Storage: to keep your settings in your browser, and the title it found on a tab until you close Chrome.
  • gamebid.co.uk: so it can ask GameBid's price service for prices.

It doesn't ask for access to your browsing history or to all websites.

Accounts, tracking and storage

  • There is no account and no sign-up.
  • The extension does not use analytics or advertising trackers.
  • Your settings, such as the platform you picked, are stored in your browser.
  • The title found on a tab is kept in your browser’s session storage so the popup can show it. Chrome clears it when you close the browser.

Your lookups aren't linked to a GameBid account, and we don't save them in our database. Like any website, GameBid's servers receive each request with the title, the platform and your IP address.

Stopping abuse. We use your IP address to count how many lookups come from one connection, so we can block anyone sending too many (more than 60 a minute). The count is kept only in the server's memory and is gone within a few minutes. It is never saved to our database.

Hosting logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps a short-lived log of requests to keep the site running and secure. The log includes the request address (so the title and platform) and your IP address. These logs are deleted automatically after no more than 30 days.

Why we use it (lawful basis) and how long we keep it

  • Price lookups (title and platform): legitimate interests, to give you the GameBid prices you asked for. We don't keep them, apart from the hosting logs above (up to 30 days).
  • IP address: legitimate interests, to keep the price service secure and stop abuse. Kept in memory for a few minutes, and in hosting logs for up to 30 days.
  • Emails you send us: legitimate interests, to reply to you. Kept for up to 2 years after we last reply, then deleted.

Who processes it for us: Vercel (website hosting; USA, with servers worldwide) and Supabase (database, stored in London). Where data leaves the UK, we rely on the UK–US data bridge for certified providers, or otherwise on the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Ask us for a copy.

Feedback

Send feedback opens your own email app with a message to us. The extension does not collect an email address, and it does not send the message itself. If you email us, we use your message and address to reply.

Selling data

We do not sell personal information.

Your rights and complaints

You can ask for access to, correction of, deletion of or restriction of personal data we hold about you. You can also object at any time to our use of your data based on legitimate interests, including using your IP address to stop abuse. We'll stop unless we have compelling grounds to continue, such as stopping an attack on the service. Because lookups aren't linked to you, we may need the date, time and your IP address to find any log entry. Email privacy@gamebid.co.uk and we'll reply within one month. The UK supervisory authority is the ICO. You can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113, but please contact us first so we can try to help.
